Steven Seagal is a rather controversial figure nowadays involved in many rumors, not exclusively linked to Martial Arts and Action Movies. We've found some Interviews in which he states his opinion about his colleagues from the martial arts and movie industry.

Steven - a 90's Icon

He must really be one of the most divisive action movie stars ever. He made his first debut in Hollywood in 1988 starring in Hard to Kill and soon after met with much success. He was a huge martial arts superstar in the nineties.

A lot of things have changed since the nineties and if before he was considered a great martial artist, today his skills are questioned. It seems like people either love him or hate him, no shades of grey are allowed.

Just as we mentioned before, Steven is also linked with eyelash-rising events, whether it's him having strong opinions about martial artists or even some stories of him meeting Bruce Lee that turned out to not be that true.

Steven about Jean Claude Van Damme

On many occasions when asked about JCVD, Steven would not try to hide the fact that he is not impressed at all by the guy. Not only he denies him being a real martial artist, but he also puts in doubt him being a Champion at all, adding that he's not the only one to think alike.

In one short video, when asked if the rumors of him and Jean Claude having a fight were true, Steven responded with a very self-confident: "It would be like me smashing an ant. If he sees me, he runs".

On the other hand, a few times Jean Claude spoke about Steven he didn't have bad things to say about him. Jean said he actually likes Steven and would love to see him on the screen. As to Steven's words toward him, Jean thinks it's because of his success.

About Michael Jay White

And again, Micheal Jay White doesn't seem to be among Steven's favorites either. In fact, in his opinion, he's not a true Martial Artist.

Micheal Jay White, on the other hand, has some interesting stories about Seagal too. He says that Steven is known for beating up and not respecting stuntmen.

About other Martial Artists

He seems to have strong opinions about many people out there. Another one was Chuck Norris. He basically just had to said about him that he's starting to get old. Another famous fighter he had a strong opinion about is GSP - Georges St-Pierre, the UFC Champion.

Despite his achievements and wins, Steven isn't that impressed with the welterweight champion.

"I think [St-Pierre] is a really nice guy. I think he is a good fighter and a good martial artist. Would I call him great? No, I just think he's a wonderful and good martial artist and a good guy. Some people are born with greatness, and some people sort of acquire it, but I think with time, he will become better and better."

To me as a martial artist only a few stands out I have followed some from the 70s known their history Chuck Norris and his brother were tough guys then who traveled the tournament circles fighting Van Dam is not a fighter he was a champion in KATA J white looks good on screen not sure how in real life but he is real humble Bruce Lee was once my Idol but after learning Wings Chung I see how much Bruce Lee missed out now I can't even watch his movies with his very stiff movement that looks more like Karate then Kungfu (Chinese art) sure there art better guy than Chuck who never made it to the slick screen like Bill Superfoot Wallace, Benny jet Erqideze and some I can't remember now how ever I have no doubt about the ability of Steven Segal yes he fab some stories but he really is a master in his skill I kept tab on him during his early years seen some of his grading and also see him in real action when he was a deputy and get challenged by various would be perp. Also to make mention his style Aikedo is not an panzy art there is no in-between you either know it are you dont..and you don't have to be fit and tough if you master it in a lifetime...I would stand up to Bruce Lee right now but I would think twice to confront Steven Segal.. funny too he has adapted some stuff from wingchun and my best defense against him is to allow him to attack first but if he goes into defence mode that could be where the game changes... So he is allowed his opinions after all who dear to stand before him and say prove your self... very few if. At all any...one

Steven is a tragedy. His first couple of movies… especially Above the Law… we’re excellent. Great screen presence. If he had have remained humble and professional he might have absolutely been remembered fondly as a Hollywood class act. Unfortunately he could never get out of the way of his ego and he fabricates and lies to media regularly. He has become an embarrassment

Wow, sounds like Steven has been 'Under Siege' from his fellow martial artists. Or, maybe he's just 'Marked for Typos'! 😂 Keep it light Steve!
