In today's episode of our Versus series we offer you a very interesting match combo: Praying Mantis vs MMA.

This video was uploaded by kyokushinbul, a channel with many other interesting videos so don't forget to check it out.

The Match

Although we are big fans of traditional Martial Arts and styles, sometimes it is actually surprising to see match combos like this one, not to mention the actual fight and the results.
This match starts off great, with the Praying Mantis exhibiting his skills and forms and the MMA athlete ready for what he came for - the fight.
You may feel like you have already seen the MMA fighter, and you're probably right: he's the one that has beaten up the old Kiai Grandmaster. This time he decided to kick up a Mantis, but he probably didn't expected such an aggressive Mantis. Who would have, right?

Praying Mantis and MMA, really?

Just as this athlete, the mantis is a long and narrow predatory insect that inspired the name for this Chinese Kung Fu style.
However, is there really any praying mantis technique? Analyzing the video, the kung fu athlete starts with movements typical of their styles. The real questions is: do they really use them?
We have seen a lot of grappling, punches and kicks from both sides, no doubt about that, but can we really talk about Praying Mantis and MMA?

In Conclusion

The question is unanswered and we would love to know what you think about it. So, don't be shy and let us know your opinion!

sadly, I saw neither 'praying mantis style' or 'mma'... what I DID see was the old adage: 'everyone has a plan until they get hit'

Hey, we're back on the Kung Fu vs MMA debate? ๐Ÿ˜‚ Pop the popcorn folks! Personally, I love both. Kung Fu has the grace, MMA brings the raw energy! Both have their wins, no need to fight over a fight! ๐Ÿ˜…

Haha, here we go again with the age-old Kung Fu vs MMA debate! I guess the key is to remember that it's not about the style, it's about the fighter. Keep it punchy, peeps! ๐Ÿ˜…

Great piece! It's like debating whether pizza is better than hamburgur โ€“ each has its own saucy charm. But what if we mix them? Kung MMA, anyone?

Ah! The great debate continues. Iโ€™m all in for the elegance of Kung Fu but MMAโ€™s pragmatism does rock. Stick and move, jab, jab! ๐Ÿ˜‚ P.S: Both require one heck of a discipline! Hats off! ๐ŸŽฉ"

Kung Fu or MMA, a never-ending debate! It's like choosing between coffee and tea, each packs punch in its own way. Though I'd โ€˜chopโ€™ to see a Kung Fu 'jab' at MMA!
