Today we'll be looking at a short match between a Kyokushin Karateka and a Wing Chun practitioner.

What we have just seen in the video seems like an easy skills exchange, or maybe a match during a local tournament between schools.
Unfortunately, I'm not 100% sure where this match takes place but must be an eastern country.
The match goes on for a few minutes with various breaks in between, and honestly, not much action is happening. That's not to say that a good match is only the one where punches and slaps fly high, no. I'm just observing that it's hard to observe or appreciate someone's technique or attitude during a fight if there really isn't that much to observe.

There are many differences between Wing Chun and Karate, in this case, Kyokushin.
First things first, to start with the most obvious one, these two martial arts were designed for different contexts.
In fact, Wing Chun was thought of specifically for a very close-distance combat range. On the contrary, Karate was thought for a long-distance combat range.
Observe how the Kyokushin guy initiates with a Maygery, long forward kick. On the contrary, the Wing Chun guy seems to be waiting patiently for the karateka to come near him.

Conclusion

If it's not your first time here, you already know that this space is not really meant to judge only to take somebody's part.
Actually, as I said before, it's pretty hard to have an opinion on something that really didn't even happen. Some punches were thrown, yes, but if it weren't for the dress and for the typical stance, I bet it would be difficult to understand which one is which.
Firstly, we don't know for how long these guys have trained. Then, is this their first match outside of their school or do they already have some experience?
From what is seen there, not much happened and none of them really went for the other.
